Beyond Partisan Politics, Prof. Akpagu is a Good Man
Nothing brings a Leader more prestige than campaigns and striking demonstration of personal abilities. It is also no doubt that adversity is the first path to truth.
Unarguably, the people of Cross River Northern Senatorial District have suffered tremendously from bad leadership in general and the Senate in specific. Therefore, the need for the people's salvager is unnegotiable.
If it is not against the spirit of the 1999 constitution, which makes it ipso facto mandatory for anyone that has interest to contest any election to first of all identify with a registered political party in Nigeria, Akpagu should prefer an individual system or candidacy election which will enable anyone with interest in any elective position declare, canvass and be voted for.
The performer and development general, Prof Zana Akpagu is without any iota of doubt loved, adored and always welcomed by his people, with advantage of winning any election in the state from house- hold to house-hold due to his proven diligent performance in the past and even in his subsisting administration as the Vice-Chancellor of the university of calabar.
It's quite bad that competency, capacity and credibility has for ages now in Nigeria been sacrificed on the alter of partisan, sentiment and ugly trend of party anointed. As a people, we must outlive these in order to enable us grow.
Akpagu has been able to rise above his equals because of his grand style leadership approach. Akpagu believes he does not have monopoly of knowledge and as such, he consistently seeks and scale the peoples opinions.
Like ordinary politicians who build bridges, construct roads and skyscrapers with their sweet promises, Akpagu even though being an old cock in politics is a known diligent strategist, facts finder, planner and achiever. He saw it necessary to always align those things that will satisfy the needs and desire of the people.
As a legacy oriented leader, Akpagu while serving his state faithfully as a Commissioner for Education between 2001-2003, he adopted his carefully selected method, which he and his working team met Stakeholders in the Education sector in the state(at the time)which gloriously saw to bearing a robust revamping of the Education sector which include but not discounted: Establishment of 27 secondary schools, return of Missionary schools to their owners, establishment of the Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTECH), etc.
Attestable, as Vice- Chancellor, Akpagu priotized the interest of students, staff and the host community. Without any iota of doubt, the yearning for greater infrastructure, security, students and staff welfare, improvement in curriculum amongst others became things of the past.
The all-round celebrated oriented leader has delivered in diverse capacities that undisputedly, the current call for who to replace the late senator in the Cross River Northern Senatorial District keeps heating hard on his head as all and sundry have lend their voices to this uncommon call for him to come and redeem the district from long suffered political bondage for the people's voice to be heard again.
Obviously, you will agree with that, with these overwhelming reasons, "Akpagu" is a good man knowing quite well that the people cannot yearn for who is not good and no ideal person will project a bad egg that will become clog on the wheel of development.
